In-Situ Stress

CSF

A better understanding of the stress field in a reservoir can help operators to model and plan for borehole breakout, enabling optimisation of drilling performance to ensure optimum ROP’s and effective hole cleaning. A full understanding of the effect of orientation and variations in in-situ stress can help to optimise completions strategies and assess risks from fault seal breach and/or optimise fracture performance.

Task Fronterra are able to derive high resolution profiles of vertical and horizontal stresses through the integration of open hole petrophysical logs and borehole image logs.  The modes are constrained by wellbore failure features identified in image and caliper logs, drilling events, mud weights and any additional petrophysical, structural and geological characteristics present.  Estimation of stress orientation comes from multiple sources such as; borehole images, oriented caliper, cross-dipole acoustic log, etc.
