As borehole images can add an impressive level of detail to coarser-resolution e.g. seismic data, so too can core and core images significantly augment borehole image data:
- 360° core images can be interpreted similarly to borehole images, but by their nature provide even greater resolution than many borehole images.
- Slab core images can also be used in conjunction with borehole images to assist interpretation.
- Core logging provides the ultimate ‘ground truth’ for image interpretation.
- Core test results can be incorporated to assist interpretation.
By integrating core data with information derived from borehole images and beyond that to seismic, a near-complete spectrum of detail can be derived to maximise understanding of the sub-surface.
